Inside the Church Tower

The Bell is dated 1639

This Tambourine was presented to the church by Miss E. Shrubsole. It was played by her father, Albert Shrubsole, then aged ten years, in the church Orchestra in 1897
The Tower was in urgent need of repair as
large cracks had appeared inside and outside.
A temporary repair was made to the outside to prevent further damage
by the weather, but inside one of the cracks on the East Wall looked like this:

A generous grant towards the cost of
repair was given by English Heritage, but we had to match the amount,
£38,000
We also received a generous grant from
"The Historic Churches Preservation Trust"

The Tower is now fully restored
The parapet has been re-leaded and the roof re-tiled
and lined
Thank you to all those who gave so generously to the appeal
